Will a restore delete my contacts and my music, and force me to activate again?

an apple restore should help, im not sure how much damage copying your bin over will cause. a NORMAL restore from apple, will give you everything back, contacts , etc. music you d have to resync, but as long as its in your itunes your fine. you may lose little things , but the major things will be there. If i were you , id restore, doesnt look like you have much of a choice.
