How can I save APN settings? They seem to disappear everytime I use WiFi

Hi friends

I just unlocked my iphone for the UK and it works brilliantly. I use Windows XP and no issues with that either... There is only one problem. Every time my iphone detects a Wi-Fi it obviously browses using that network, as it should, but when I move out of range and try to use Edge again, the APN settings are gone. How can I save them? In Settings/General/Network/Edge/Advanced there is no way to save those settings. I find myself entering www.o2.mobile.co.uk, password and user every day once.

When I key in these settings Edge works perfectly and browsing and email reception is excellent, but I want to avoid the nuissance o entering the settings every day.
