My post got lost in the news thread on the new jailbreak so I'm reposting here in hopes of some thoughts on my conundrum.
I know I must be missing something basic but I can't figure it out.
Had 1.0.2 with apptapp Yay! was great.
Finally took the hook when touchfree4 came out. Did a restore to 1.1.1 and ran touchfree... but have had problems with programs crashing and jumping back to the slide to unlock screen all the time so decided I needed a different tack on this. Did another restore, and tried the new "jailbreakme.com" and it doesn't work. Said screw it and tried using the touchfree4 files again and THEY don't work.
dunno what touchfree is but should you have done update instead of restore to get to 1.1.1 from 1.0.2 ? Are you sure you're on 1.1.1 ? What exactly happen when you went to jailbreakme.com ? I asumes you already activated the phone, right ?
I'm assuming I am in 1.1.1 land as I have iTunes store and home button favorites on the phone.
<shrug>
Here's my problem with jailbreakme... First time I used it, the browser crashed I waited, nothing happened, rebooted the phone, nothing new, no installer. SO... I tried again and it hung in Safari... waited 20 minutes, nothing... rebooted, nothing. Gave that a few tries. Then gave up and tried the original hack I used (touchfree) and it says it can't create some files on my phone because they already exist. Would love to go in and delete them but iphonebrowser no longer works. Hehe.. fun. So gave up on that, have re-restored my phone twice today trying to shake something loose to no avail.
Sitting here on jailbreakme again, starring at my locked up safari.
I'm on windows vista, bought the phone on day 1. Umm... not sure what else to say... I feel pretty hosed. Yay!
