This is all restorable without Apple knowing, right? (I heard unlocking iPhones can't be restored)

Hmm, unfortunately, when I attempt this procedure I get an iTunes error, saying the iPod Touch could not be restored because an unknown error occurred (1604).
Is there some way to fix this?

I think I followed all the steps, but it doesn't have phone functionality anymore...plus, the itunes store and app store don't show up. I probably did something wrong...someone help!!

Many people said that those two apps don't show up. most likely you need a real cert. to activate those.

Anyone who has gotten the 2.0 to work, does the exchange support work? I could care less about having it jailbroken, I just need exchange support.

the install went perfectly smooth. 2.0 is a beauty
Problems:
- no installer.app
- poor support for apps like customize, summerboard, etc
- iTunes store and AppStore missing
currently working on sneaking installer back on the iPhone, will post about progress
EDIT: iTunes store and AppStore do not appear when you are not using an AT&T sim.Last edited by highPhone; 04-03-2008 at 11:02 PM. Reason: update after further research

The update went ok, but now a poweroff hangs with the pause circle.
You should be able to install Installer.app with ssh as I thing that ssh is installed as part of the update process. I do not have access to WiFi at the moment so I can not test. I tried installing Installer.app with iPHUC (and make it executable using geohots method), but the program will not start.

Phone functionality should work, did you pwn using a non-customized ipsw first? Also for the phone functionality to work you have to pre-neuter the baseband in 1.1.4 before you can upgrade to 2.0.
As for installer.app, I did some research last night and apparently the 2.0 firmware has some code in it that kills unauthorized apps. After loading installer 3.0 onto iPhone 2.0, I was able to run it but it was quickly terminated by the OS. I need to go in and change some .plist entries so we can release a patch for this. Until then, ALL 3RD PARTY APPS WILL NOT WORK ON 2.0 FIRMWARE.

I got the same issue with 2.0 tried copying installer to iPhone made it executable and terminated by OS.
-> Installation fine
-> Power off takes a while
If Installer worked on 2.0 and apps worked 2.0 would be quite nice.
Good on the Dev Team for PwnageTool.

wish AppStore and iTunes Store were there because i would consider updating then... its a shame that installer doesnt work... i didnt think it was legal for them to deliberately stop unauthorized apps from working? Remember how its illegal for them to deliberately stop iPhone unlocking, as it is legal? Hmm
Want some help
PM me and ill answer it asap

I was able to upgrade to 2.0 without any problem. Phone is working and fine. The only problem is thirdparty applications and installer. There are no itunes store and app store either.

Are any of you on AT&T? Do we have to check the activation box in pwnage?

The 1604 error (and 1013 and a few others) can be overcome by using iNdependence or any of the other tools that kick the iPhone out of recovery mode.
The procedure in this how-to will keep your baseband unlocked but keep it at v4.04.05 (from 1.1.4). If you want to be unlocked at v4.05.01 (from 2.0) then you can do the steps outlined on this Dev Team wiki page

On 2.0 (5A240d) for a few days already. Yesterday try to install sample GLGravity using iPhone SDK beta 3 into the iPhone. Works great. Can we just install third party apps using the iPhone SDK the same way as installing GLGravity? Thanks.
