IOS5 is very good, with lots of new useful features.

Hi hun, there is no way you have 4.3.3 on iphone 4S, you probably mean iphone 4.
Yes it would be a good idea because as paaascal said there are great new features (such as imessage, icloud and newly designed notification center) and also great new tweaks if you are jailbroken.
Another issue is that once ios 5.1 comes out, if you miss your chance to get on 5.0.1, then you will be left without jailbreak until one comes out at that version (should you want to be jailbroken).
So I would suggest definitely going (although make sure you restore and SETUP AS NEW if you are jailbroken).

yes i have the 4 not the 4s...
so i can have unthethered and keep the modem 04.10.01 baseband modem thing (that can be unlocked anyways?)

1. Download ios 5.0.1 ipsw
2. Download redsn0w 0.9.10b4
3. Run redsn0w, go to extras - create custom ipsw, and make a custom one that will start with "NO_BB" in its name.
4. Put iphone in PWNED DFU (by running redsn0w - extras - PWNED DFU)
5. Start up itunes, and while holding down SHIFT button, click on RESTORE and select the NO_BB ipsw that you created in step 3.
6. Once the restore is done, you run redsn0w and jailbreak/hacktivate your phone (you have to turn the phone off and go to redsn0w-jailbreak and install cydia and follow the instructions. If it asks you in the beginning of redsn0w to put in an ipsw you will select the 5.0.1)
7. When prompted, only tick "Install Cydia" and hit next.
8. Set up as new (best to do).
And you are good to go.
If you do NOT want to jailbreak, just do steps 1-5 and then 8.
Is your phone currently jailbroken and should I guess you are using a Gevey sim tray?
