Thanks for the reply and for hosting the original icons in the downloads section. In any case i'm still wondering how it is that you managed to pull the original icons off of the phone in the first place. This is my first introduction to unix commands and i understand that "putfille" does just that it puts files but what would be its inverse, by which files could be pulled off of the device? i tried getfile, but i didn't know the arguments or cp for copy but iphoneinterface didn't recognize it as a command. Thanks in advance.

Getfile works in the OS X version. Some people are having issues with getfile in Windows.

I made a package for the lower icons of the iphone (phone, mail, safari, ipod) using comic iphone for windows, but now they are in icon.png format. if anyone wants them they are resized to 60x60.

I'm having some problems with Xp..
Steps:
rmdir /Applications/YouTube.app/icon.png
It comes back with:
iPhone:/Applications/YouTube.app#
Then I move my icon.png into the phonedmg folder, and enter:
putfile /Applications/YouTube.app/icon.png
And I get:
Fileref: 0
I don't get it.
Please help!

well those are the right instructions , to my knowledge. you may want to check if you are in the c
phonedmg or whatever directory you are using for the base. secondly you need to check if the icon.png for youtube is in that same directory.
Question: does anyone know what file the background is? im thinking its Default_BG.png in the /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/ can anyone confirm or deny this?
Also does anyone have the entire iphone structure in zip format incase people need to restore? i think mac users can do this? if so can you post it up in zip form incase i delete something im not suppose to! thanks!Last edited by arthursdomain; 07-18-2007 at 10:22 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Thanks! I finally figured it out. I also figured out that if you give it one bad instruction, you have to reconnect, or I'll get the outcome I did above..
There are some amazing icon sets around!

Here's a set.
All credit goes to the GunMetal theme, I just modded the colours.

hey all, great stuff you've come up with. mad props.
i've followed the directions through several times, but can't seem to get the old icons out of there...even with 'rmdir'
