All the steps are exactly the same. You just need to use a Windows SFTP program instead of a Mac one.

I have a general question with the modication. Actually, this may apply to other files too. I'm running window. When I look at file, either at unix on the phone or download it to window. It is a binary and text file. A lot of control characters are in the files. However, your files are a straight XML text file. Is there a conversion between this format?

From the command line, you can run:
There is a web site that can convert these, but I can't seem to find the link...plutil -convert xml1 DisplayOrder.plist

Thanks!
Now my iPhone feels like it was made for my network and not that of the death star.
Appreciate your help. Thank you.

carrier settings
my iphone is working great as a phone but the carrier settings must be corrupted as i am unable to get the gprs or edge to work .
it worked for a couple of days but i put in a friends sim and it somehow stopped it from working when i replace it back with mine(different carrier)
as you seem to know about settings where can i check mine and set them straight?

Does this process work exactly the same for firmware 1.1.1?

just tried it on a 1.1.1 firmware. Doesn't work
After copying the files and restarting the phone when you go to settings and click on phone icon it just sits there doing nothing.. It looks like the new files on 1.1.1 aren't plain text anymore.

Cool, thanks for checking. I tried the same thing but when went to the phone settings, it just went back to the springboard. Would be nice to have a version of this for 1.1.1
