Is there no clear explanation for how to remove this from the phone.
No there is no uninstall for the installer. Neither there is one for the BSD.

Make sure you have SFTP set up (there is a guide under Getting Started Mac) and use your favorite FTP program to delete the app folder from your phone. It is Applications/Installer.

If I do a restore to get rid of the installer app I understand the phone remains unlocked. But will I still be able to switch between my Fido SIM and my ATT sim without having to activate each one?

Yes. If not, simply replace the lockdownd file again.

Thanks for the quick response, so the restore doesn't change the lockdownd file either, just to be clear?

Shouldn't. Again, if it does, just up it again.

You wouldn't. What's wrong with having those?

I guess I don't plan to make any other changes to the phone apart from unlocking it, and just wanted it back to the original state as much as that was possible. Especially getting nervous with all the talk about Apple saying that phones may become inoperable with future updates

Ah. That has nothing to do with mods. That has to do with unlock, but will be fixed within a few days of the new firmware I am sure.
