Do you have OpenSSH installed? Did you install BSDSubsystem first?
Are you using the SFTP protocol, not the FTP? Port 22, not 21?

Thanks!! I tried all other unlock apps but this one finally worked for me. However, I am encountering two problems:
1. I can call out, but can't receive any calls. Anyone who calls me gets a busy signal.
2. When I call someone, I can hardly hear the person even when I turn the volume to max.
Anyone else encountering this problem?

If at first you don't succeed, try try again. A little more info, please.
Are you connected to WiFi? Not losing signal at all? Auto-lock set to never? Tried restarting phone and doing again?

Few pieces of information that might help others:
After completing step 4 (Unlock) the phone became very s-l-o-w. I did a restore in iTunes (unlock stayed intact) and then ran independence again to bypass the activation screen.

I am planning to unlock my iPhone and was studying very closely these instructions. Before I start I've got two questions: First of all: I am in a hotel and there is Wifi here but it works with credit card. At the point that I need the internet will I be able to access the browser etc through the iPhone to buy time online? Or should I go somewhere where the inrenet is free?
My other questions concerns the unlock app by Erica Sadun. I have downloaded it, but didn't understand from the instructions what I will need it for. Also: if I try to open it on my mac it tells me that I am not using the right system....
Thank you for answering!

I seem to have got stuck at the point where the instructions say "--Warning-- If you have not installed the BSD tools, your iPhone will not function. Replace lockdownd with the original file and install it before continuing."
I installed BSD Tools (not mentioned anywhere in the previous text) but how do I replace lockdownd with the original file and where would I find the original file ?

It is mentioned in the previous text, part 3:
When you do, click and install these apps, in this order:
BSD Subsystem - this will take a couple minutes.
09-21-2007, 04:41 PM #34Windows vs Mac OS X Methods
I used the Mac Version first with iNdependance and it worked great for activating and jailbreaking. But I ran into an issue with Apptap so I restored and went the windows way with iBrickr. Although I'm a Mac person the windows method worked perfect. I was really worried about all the SSH stuff and connecting with putty but it went smooth as long as you read every line on the tutorial and don't skip anything.
Remember the main points..Turn off autolock, update iTunes to 7.4.2, update firmware to 1.0.2, have an active wifi connection, even use a manual iP address so it doesn't change before you use putty. Don't stress if you crash your iphone. I did a few times and you can always force a restore by holding the home and sleep button for 25 seconds (no less) until the yellow triangle appears. iTunes will detect the crashed phone and restore the iphone and you can start again.

I can't find any "EDGE" options in the settings menu
09-21-2007, 08:25 PM #36
Hi, i can't get cyberduck to work. Tried several times, even use a manual IP address but i always end up with this error message:
I/O Error: Connection failed
The kexTimeout (30000ms) expired
Any suggestions pls? Thank you!

Sometimes when I open safari or mail I get the error message: Could not activate EDGE: You are not subscribed to edge. On my previous phone I was able to use GPRS services, I'm not sure if it had edge (SE K750i).
iPhone does detect the edge network, I see the little E netst to the providername.
I checked again and the EDGE option shows up now, my mistake

Is 192.168.1.3 the IP address showing on your iPhone?[/QUOTE]
Yup, i used a manual IP address and it shows 192.168.1.3 on my iPhone. Tried changing it to 192.168.1.4 and it still gets me the same error.
