After that, just follow the steps in the Mac Pwnage tutorial...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

hmmm...just followed the guide and and i must have made a mistake.
now ituens tell me i have an unsupported SIM when i finish (which is correct. using tmobile)
my phone says "emergency calls only" but i can dial out. and in the top left corner i have full signal and it reads "t-mobile".
where did i mess up? i did the process twice with the same result.
this is the third different time i have updated my iphone and i never had an issue before. i get the feeling maybe i messed up the bootloader?

I had the same issue. I was choosing the wrong file to restore the ipod. I was using the original .ipsw instead of the custom restore.ipsw
01-15-2009, 11:02 AM #9Will I lose the apps purchased from iTunes when I Jailbreak?
I have used Jailbreak on my 1st Gen. iPhone just after Apple came out with 2.0. However, I have to use my iPhone for work, receiving emails from an Enterprise server.
I am wondering if I will lose this ability as well as the iPhone apps I have already paid for via iTunes?

01-24-2009, 10:00 PM #112.2 won't unlock on 1st gen phone
i screwed up. I had it unlocked and "accidently" upgraded to 2.2
I can get into recovery and restored "The correct" .ipsw
Then it does it's thing and comes out fail.
Can anyone let me in on what may be wrong.
Is there an easy way to downgrade the firmware.
I love my iphone.
A little help will be appreciated
01-26-2009, 12:40 PM #12
Okay... SO i downgraded by loading itunes 7.5 and restoring with a 1.4 FW.
Apple's site has a great walkthrough on how to uninstall itunes 8 (full uninstall on macs is important to this)

i followed all of the instructions and then when i go to open up the custom firmware, after its done extracting the firmware an error comes up sayin there was an error...iphone cannot be restored error(21)

Can I use this version of Pwnage and upgrade to 2.2 directly from my previously hactivated iphone running 1.0.2 on t-mobile?
I'm confused by earlier posts that say I would have to virginize and then update to 1.1.4 before upgrading in this way. Can someone please help set the record straight so I don't brick this puppy?

Anyone else here getting an error 21 message? This is pissing me off royally and any help would be nice right about now.

21 is recovery error not dfu.Put it into dfu mode properly. If you on 10.5.6,use automator. Are you still getting error like 16xx on dfu mode, then try to use usb hub.If it does not solve
Delete device support file&kill itunes helper
Create a new custom fw
Put it into dfu mode
If you get an error, close itunes&re-open it

This is exactly what has happened to my phone today. I followed pwnage on my mac got successful and did dfu UR In message then went to itunes and got crushed with eror 21 and again on the 16XX,so I can recieve calls and make calls with the itunes logo and usb and slide emrgency and was wondering if a att activated sim card would unlock the phone to allow icons and the phone go to normal ability to still use my Tmobile sim?

then go back to yours and try pwnage again. also if you're getting error messages drag pwnage to applications and make sure you quit before custom restore.
also its better to download the ispw file in firefox rather than safari if you're on a mac.
then i went back to my computer and ran pwnage after dragging it to applications folder. make sure after its finished making the firmware, that you quit. also, if you're on a mac its best to download the ispw file on firefox rather than safari. if you are on a new mac, use a usb hub when setting iphone into DFU mode.
