How to change wallpaper and combine themes?

I have a jailbroken iphone 16gb 3gs. I'm trying to change the wallpaper behind the icons, not the lockscreen. I think I did it before on one of my other iphone's but I can't remember. I tried setting the option in Winterboard by selecting user wallpaper but that didn't work.

Is the "User Wallpaper" option only for wallpapers that you ssh into the phone and/or wallpapers you get from Cydia?

Or is the "User Wallpaper" option for pics on your camera roll as well as wallpapers from Cydia and the ones you ssh into into the phone?

Another question how can you combine two themes? Ex: use the wallpaper of one and the icons of another? I thought that you have to put one theme above the other in Winterboard and activate them both...is that correct?

The best way to combine 2 themes is to OpenSSH and take the images/items you like from one, and replace them on the other theme.

Once you become familiar with file placements on your iPhone you will be able to do it right from your phone with iFile.
