You have to use Fetch with the SFTP or Cyberduck (google them for Mac)
Then you can go into the directories private/var/mobile/Library etc. and do what the instructions say to do. If on PC, use another ftp client perhaps WinFTP or some vcomon freebie, there are tons of them, and just make sure you select SFTP and not just FTP in the connection type, there should be a pulldown menu, then enter the ip address of your iPhone (found under with WIFI settings of the phone it self) click on the blue arrow to get it, usually it's something like 192.168.0.3 or so... and use the login "root" no quotes and "alpine" as the pass agian no quotes in the ftp app and hit connect, or login or whatever the apps says..fetch will say 'submit" or "connect" i think. Don't do anything else in here as you can mess things up, but don't be too afraid either, it's pretty easy to do. Good Luck!!!!!
