Performing carrier settings update on jailbroken 4s with ios 5.1.1

Hi all. Hope I'm putting this post in the right place sorta new here. Anyways, I have a Verizon 4s jailbroken. Whenever I connect it to my laptop to sync it with itunes, itunes keeps telling me there's a carrier update available for my phone. My question is if i do the carrier update, will it un-jailbreak my phone, and if so, will i be able to jailbreak it again? I used Absteninth 2.0.4 to jailbreak it.

Nope. They just affect your settings. It won't un-jailbreak your iPhone, it'll just update the baseband. I don't reccomend you update it if you are wanting to unlock.

Don't know if my last post went through, but aren't jailbreaking and unlocking the same thing? Just for clarification reasons...

Nope. Jailbreaking allows you to install software not approved by Apple. Unlocking allows you to have different carriers on your iPhone that are not normally supported.

Actually the gevey ultra S works up to the latest firmware and baseband available right now (5.1.1). But that is generally good advice for unlockers.

Has anyone tried activating a JB & unlocked iPhone 4 (Sprint) or iPhone 4s onto Virgin Mobile in July 2012?
