New Line "Upgrade"?

Has anybody ever added a line to "upgrade" their phone?

My mom wants an iPhone 4, I want a 4s, and a family plan would save us both some cash because I get a discount through my job. Can I add a line for my mom to my account, get her an iPhone 4s, and then swap phones so that my number goes to the 4s and her number ports to my old iPhone 4?

A rep from the store I bought my iPhone from told me he has personally done that for a few customers. I am not sure if the reason he was so forthcoming and offered the option was because he is a friend of mine or just a nice guy in general. You should try anyways see what happens when u ask.

You sure can. I've done it before numerous times with my family members. I think though if you add a line, it will extend your current line for two more years. Unless that has changed...? Well anyhow, you should be able to do it just fine. If a rep says otherwise, just find another rep.
