Default Returning unlocked phone to apple due to fault

i have an unlocked phone which was unlocked using izphone. My phone has a faulty speaker so i would like to send it to apple for a repair. However i doubt they will repair the phone if its still unlocked, but if i restore the locks using the ziphone software, do you think they will be able to tell that it has been unlocked before?

If your baseband matches your firmware and you are runnng the bootloader you got the phone with, you will be fine.

I think the firmware that i got with the phone was 1.1.2 and on the restore itunes updated it to 1.1.4. how do i check the baseband (what is it?). Also how do i check what bootloader the phone is running now that it is locked again and what should it be running?

you do know that the phone only has 1 speaker on the bottom left? The holes on the right are for the mic. Not trying to insult your intelligence, but people have done this in the past

Hey, yeah i know that. Its to do with the phone speaker, i.e. the one on the front where the sound for the phone call comes out of. Its really crackly when some of my friends speak to me on the phone. Really really annoying!

I think there may be a problem there... if you used ZiPhone to unlock 1.1.4, then it most probably downloaded your Bootloader to 3.9 from 4.6.
You say your phone came with 1.1.2, i'm assuming that it came with a 4.6 bootloader, which if it did, and you used ZiPhone "Do It All" then it's downgraded it to 3.9 and thats irreversable, well unloss you testpoint hardware upgrade it! :S

Apple will know if it's been downgraded from 4.6 to 3.9 (if they check that is) and if they find it has, it's pretty likely they will refuse to repair it
Have you tried taking it back to the apple store and see what they can do for you, if you sound convincing and can reproduce the problem they MAY just change it for you... though not never being in this situation, i cant be too sure

I'm not sure, but I believe the boot neuter that comes with pwned will allow you to update any phone to 4.6 from 3.9. Please correct me if I'm wrong. But if this is the case I suggest you wait until the launch of pwned so you can upgrade your bootloader to its original 4.6 state. BTW the only way you would have a baseband that doesn't match your firmware would be if you updated to say firmware 1.1.4 and then downgraded to 1.1.3. Your baseband should be fine, but I would look into the bootloader situation.

I've heard very little about the boot neuter, but if thats true, that would be amazing! I like 3.9 bootloader but i would like to go back to 4.6 should anything go wrong and i need a repair though then again, it may just be for 3.9FakeBlank, which if thats the case, your totally screwed
If you used ZiPhone's Refurbish, then i'm pretty sure it erases the baseband and wipes everything clean, leaving you to restore to any firmware along with it's baseband, but it's a "Use at your own Risk" feature, i've heard it can go wrong, leaving you with a "Repair Needed" message, but there quite easy to sort But yeah, if you simply downgrade from 1.1.4 - 1.1.3 using iTunes then you'd be running a 1.1.3 iPhone with the 04.04.05_G Baseband, and Apple would raise a few eyebrows lol!

Yeah, not to many details have been given about the boot neuter. But from the video's I have seen I'm not so sure that you need the 3.9FB. I guess we will see pretty soon

Bootneuter doesn't repair your bootloader 3.9 to a bootloader 4.6. It can only restore your 3.9 bootloader to a 4.6 bootloader if you have downgraded your 4.6 bootloader to a 3.9FB bootloader. As of yet there is no way to restore a genuine 3.9 bootloader to a 4.6 bootloader.

There IS a hardware method to upgrade your BootLoader, but i wouldnt know the first thing to do I know it's a Testpoint job, but it's far too complex for my knowledge

I hope a software method comes one day, but i'm afraid F.A. it's looking like an apple return is off the cards if you've used ZiPhone on a 4.6BL Phone Dont worry though, i'm in the same boat haha!

whats the worst that can happen if apple do find out? I tried to return it to Carphone warehouse and they said that i would have to ring up their head office to plea for a new phone, or wait till a tech can take a look. Dont know what to do. Was looking forward to an iphone for ages and when i finally get one its faulty

the only problem with taking it back to carphone warehouse to demonstrate the problem is if i roll in there with an orange sim card in it then they will know right away that it has been unlocked

You could always use an O2 PAYG Simcard.. it'll still say O2-UK at the top with full Signal and they wouldnt be any the wiser that it was PAYG, unless of course you show them the phone when the balance comes up after the call, but you just get that off the screen as soon as possible lol

I got my phone from the local CPW and they said to me it's not possible at all to unlock, so i went in the next day with an unlocked phone and they wanted me to do theirs too lol! I guess it depends on the person who's dealing with you.
