Hey everyone. Hoping someone can guide me in the right direction with a firmware update. I've got a iphone 4 running 4.0.1 (yeah i know it's old), with BB 1.59.00. How far can i update the firmware on this thing and what would be the best way to go about it? Will I need to do it in steps and get to 4.1 then 5 etc. My carrier is T-mobile if that is needed. I haven't done an upgrade and unlock in a while, and I just don't want to mess it up. Thanks for any help.

Depends on what blobs ya have saved for the phone depends on what firmware ya can go to

Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure I have no blobs saved for it. I'm also fairly certain I never did a firmware upgrade since I bought the phone many moons ago. I guess I'm basically starting from scratch, aside from the fact that it was already unlocked when I got it.

You can stay where ya at. Or update to 6.1.3 and there will be a tethered jailbreak

Gotcha. Let me ask this...what's the highest OS I could upgrade to without having a tethered jailbreak, and is there a good write up somewhere on how to go from such an old firmware to a relatively new version?
