so i bought an ipod touch 4g at a garage for 10 bucks cuz the owners couldnt get into it. I tried to wipe it but i can't seem to get into dfu mode. it will do the 'slide to power off' screen but the home button seems to have no effect. and i know the button works because i can screenshot. i thought that maybe jailbreaking tools might help me get through but i've spent the last six hours trying to no avail. I don't know the firmware version and the home screen says it is now disabled for 22 million minutes. please help cuz i'm tearing my hair out.

You can't restore your iPod Touch 4G current iOS version. You need to update to (iOS 6.1.3) but No Jailbreak for 6.1.3.
Download latest iTunes from Apple
Download 6.1.3 for iPod.
Put your iPod into DFU mode. Then Update it.
Wish my idea will help you. Feel free to contact me anytime

You need to put it in "pwned" DFU mode then do a restore with iTunes. You can use iREB or Redsn0w and follow instructions to put your phone in the pwned DFU. Good luck
