Red face Unlocking Iphone 4: Need some hints
    Hello.

I'm new to the iPhone scene so please bear with me for a while.
First of all thanks for having this forum available so people can exchange their knowledge and experience as well as get help and provide help for others.

    Down to business.

I currently have an iPhone 4 16GB that came from Canada. It's on ios 5.1.1 with baseband 04.12.01.

From what I've gathered so far, it's completely impossible to unlock it by known means, right?
So, I realized I'll have to pay to get it IMEI unlocked. But that leaves with 2 questions to be answered:

    1) How can I find the original carrier of my iPhone?
    2) Which site do you recommend (cheap + effective)? Does it depend on the carrier?

    Thanks in advance!

I didn't buy it in Ebay. I bought it from a friend who lived in Canada. She doesn't really know which network it was from.

If the iPhone was activated, iTools may help. You can get a copy from itools.hk. It's a free software. After running it, click on Detail or Info button (can't remember exactly) then scroll down. It may tell you the activated carrier.

    Good luck

    Hi,
iPhone 4 can be unlocked by Remote Unlock Method . You can get the remote unlock service from Unlocking4U.com to unlock your iPhone 4.It will work on all baseband and all ios version . To find the original carrier of your iPhone 4 , ask the site's support team through the Contact Us page and they will help you. And yes,This method depends on the IMEI and carrier of the phone so you must know which network is your iPhone 4 currently locked to.
