Thread: Activation 4S - No original sim
02-02-2013, 08:16 AM #1Activation 4S - No original sim
I have been reading a lot today about the subject but could not find an interesting answer.
I have a 6.1 Iphone 4s restored.
I can't access the phone and can't find the Imei to check the original carrier at the moment.
The phone needs an original sim card to be activated (I don't have it).
I know the jailbreak for 6.1 will be released tomorrow, maybe it can help.
Does anyone have any idea what to do in that case?
Thank you for reading !
Edit : MC319LL/A if it can help

I'll try f0recast when I get it in my hands (in an hour).
Already tried iTools and TinyUmbrella without success.
Will the unlock also bypass the activation problem?
Thanks a lot, really, much appreciated. I keep you posted !

Well I first checked with a website that gave me that number but it seems it was not accurate at all...
Too bad for me... I bet it's gonna be harder now.

Ya, I don't recognize that model number. If you give me your IMEI number I can figure out exactly what carrier your phone is locked to, then you can go from there.
Came back as Next Tether Activation Policy Description: Ireland Hutchison. Does that mean anything to you?

Have to ask my brother where he bought it.
Any unlock available for Ireland?

I believe that is 3 Ireland. At least I think that is what Hutcheson is. I dont know of any IMEI unlock for them. You may be able to call them and get them to unlock it. If you were on 6.0.1 or lower I would say a gevey sim could unlock it but I don't know if they work on 6.1 yet.

Yeah definitely 3.
I'm not sure about the latest R-SIM but according to their website, the R-SIM7+ does unlock any 6.1 device.
I'm not sure about the activation though... Gonna take 2 weeks to ship anyway.

I have a 4s. Sprint. Bad esn/imei. On 6.0.1. Is a gevey or something equivant guaranteed to work?
02-02-2013, 06:28 PM #14
Unlock won't fix a bad esn/imei. Only the carrier can, and usually they won't.
02-02-2013, 06:31 PM #15
Well If you unlock it you can use it on another network though.
02-02-2013, 06:34 PM #16
If its locked to one carrier, you can unlock it to use on other carriers.
But if the esn is bad, the phone is blacklisted and wont work on any carrier.
02-02-2013, 06:37 PM #17
Ok I've misinformed myself then. How the hell can I fix it?
Ir never heard of it being black listed. Only that if you have a bad esn you can unlock it and use it on another network/ carrier.
02-02-2013, 06:46 PM #18
Does the phone work on Sprint at all?
If it does, you may be able to unlock it and use it elsewhere.
If the esn is blacklisted (bad) the only thing you can do is call Sprint and ask them for help.

It has a bad imei. I know that and sprint won't unlock it. That's why u wants I know if a gevey it something else would work.

If the esn or imei is blacklisted, you cannot use it on any carrier. Call Sprint and ask them why it's blacklisted. maybe they'll tell you. Maybe they won't.
NO unlock code or card will help you with a bad IMEI.
It typically means that the phone was reported lost or stolen, or a similar problem.
"Locked to Sprint" means that it can only be used on Sprint network. Meaning it may be possible to unlock the SIM slot. But if your phone is tagged as "bad" in their database (as opposed to "locked") only Sprint can help you. If they won't, then you are out of options.
You could try asking again, but the answer will still be the same.
