Thread: Can anyone help me unlock my iPhone 4s?

Default Can anyone help me unlock my iPhone 4s?
I have a jailbroken iPhone 4S running 5.0.1. I still have the original sim card the phone came with but I never activated it because I used H2O Mobile and since my phone was already locked to At&T, I didn't need an unlock. But now I plan on switching to PTEL running on T-Mobile's network and I need to unlock my phone to T-Mobile. Can anyone help me?

If it is out of contract you can call AT&T and they should unlock it for you. Alternatively you can use a site like http://ideviceguys.com/unlocks/ to unlock it for cheap.

I don't think the phone was ever in a contract. Doesn't AT&T only unlock phones that were previously in one of their contracts?

If it is locked to them and not on a contract they will unlock it. I think you have to be or have been an AT&T customer to request it though.

I bought the phone from eBay so contacting AT&T won't be an option. Is iDeviceGuys completely safe and legit? And is there any way I can do it myself?

Ideviceguys is a site owned by one of our moderators here (Cowboy). It is legit.

I purchased the unlock service just now. I have to wait 24 hours and then plug my phone into iTunes and it will unlock by itself?

Aloha Simon... Unlocking a 3GS for a friend... Did it through eBay... There is the old AT&T sim in it still (out of contract) My friend is going to take it to tmobile tomorrow and get it hooked up... Can I complete the unlock process with the at&t sim card still in it?

You would have to restore it or deactivate it to complete the process with an AT&T sim.

    Try rebooting the phone

Unlocked finished and everything works perfectly! Thanks Simon. I only had to wait a couple hours after payment and my phone was unlocked. But I have a question. Is the unlock permanent? And is it unlocked to every carrier?
