Unlocking a French SFR iPhone 4 for T-Mobile or AT&T

My friend was duped into buying 16gb iphone4 for $150 from a guy telling her it worked with t-mobile already. IS there anyway to get it on t-mobile? I am having trouble restoring it also I've tried DFU mode and nothing works. Thanks

What's the relation between unlocking SFR and restore?

It's just an additional inquiry. I'm not sure if there's a different procedure when restoring international phones with itunes or what.

No difference. If your SFR iPhone is already factory unlocked, you can use it with T-Mobile.
No need to restore unless you need to activate the unlock (which usually doesnt need restore either).

Your favorite Apple, iPhone, iPad, iOS, Jailbreak, and Cydia site.
