Upgrade 3GS form 4.3.5 to 5.1.1 without working Power button

well i am phoneless and need to go back to use my old 3gs...

the power button is broken
its on 4.3.5
baseband- 05.16.02

how do i upgrade to IOS 5 so i can use imessage on the phone and unlock it as its locked on O2 and i am on Vodafone???

You can use redsn0w_win_0.9.15b1 to create DFU IPSW. Instructions are in this forum somewhere. Apple no longer sign 5.1.1 but if you have blobs saved, you probably can.

tried that but i get error - device is not eligible for the update - assuming to do with apple not signing the update anymore...

You don't have blobs saved or something? There is tethered jailbreak on iOS 6. Also they have labeled out some warnings on some tweaks being unstable on iOS 6 jb.

this phone has been used as an ipod since the iphone 4...

so no blobs saved for 5.1.1 just for - 4.1 and 6.0...

but i will need to unlock the phone thats the main problem!!!

i have a iphone 4 also... on IOS 6 and no 5.1.1 blobs or would have downgraded the baseband for that...

If you have 4.1 blobs, you can downgrade, unlock and wait for untethered iOS6 if that's ok with you. That's the only option I can think of but maybe moderators will give us some help here....

edit even without the power button workign i cant get it into DFU mode to jailbreak 6.0 anyway...
