Unlocking iPhone 4, iOS 5.0.1, BB 04.12.02
It's jailbroken.
Redmond Pie (Unlock iOS 5.0.1 On iPhone 4 / iPhone 3GS Using Ultrasn0w 1.2.5 [How-To Tutorial] | Redmond Pie) is not listing 04.12.02 as an unlockable BB.
Is there any way to unlock this phone short of the factory unlock?

Thanks, but I can't see myself paying for it when AT&T will do it for free.
I did call AT&T yesterday to request an unlock. They said I should be able to unlock it simply by restoring in iTunes, which I did several times after the phone call, but I'm not getting the unlock confirmation on iTunes. Any idea how long I'll have to wait before that method is successful?
Also, once I unlock it through AT&T, would I be able to downgrade back to 5.0.1 and still be unlocked? I do have the needed SHSH.

Since your phone is jailbroken, you need to deactivate it first. Install SAM from Cydia and use it for deactivation. After that, connect your phone to iTunes and that should be it. Forget about that congratulations message in Itunes. I never got it myself and I also got an unlock from AT&T.
BTW, did you get a confirmation E-mail from AT&T, that your phone has been unlocked?

OK, restore and set as new phone is also a way to deactivate it, but kind of complicated
