Thread: Unlocking iPhone 2G from scratch
09-06-2012, 07:23 PM #1Unlocking iPhone 2G from scratch
I can't seem to find a thread or sticky with enough details. My mother gave me her old iPhone 2G to wipe everything clean. Got it wiped but I think it's bricked. It won't power on. I've been trying to restore from scratch but every guide I look at, they don't cover the iPhone 2G anymore.
I can't seem to find any 2G firmware. Do I just use iPhone 3G firmware?
What's the highest firmware I can load on this without it slowing down? (3.1.3? or 4.2.1?)
EDIT: Nevermind, I'm downloading 3.1.3 from http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=750
What can I use to jailbreak/unlock? (redsn0w 0.9.6.14b2/ultrasn0w?)

Redsnow 0.9.4 is what you need. You will also need a 3.1.2 firmware for iPhone 2G to point redsnow to.
And no ultrasnow. To unlock you choose unlock in redsnow. You will need the two boot loader files to point redsnow to. Both can be found in our downloads section I believe.
Found a tutorial which should help: http://iphoneblogr.com/2010/12/how-t...iginal-iphone/
They have links for all the required files there too.
