New iPhone - How can I tell which firmware I have?
So, I just got an iPhone I hope to unlock. Is there an easy way to tell which firmware I have installed? I started the 1st step in the unlocking guide.
Connected to "restore" but it is not giving me the choice of 1.0.2 or 1.1.1.
I am getting the dialogue box to restore to 1.1.1, which I cancelled.
I had earlier downloaded the 1.0.2 file that I have on the desktop.
But it is still unclear to me what version firmware I have.

I'm presuming you are talking about general settings on the iphone. I have not activated the phone yet. I tried using iNdependence to activate, but I am getting a message saying:
Failure, Error entering Recovery mode

put it into recovery mode hold the power button and home button don let go till you see the yellow triangle make sure you have it connected to the computer then itunes should start up and say it found an iphone in recovery mode close itunes and force quit itunes helper if you have a mac its in application, utilities folder, activity monitor look for itunes helper and force quit it then you can go into independence and activate there are really good tutorials here follow thos guides let me see if i can find it for you

Ok it took some fiddling but I got iNdependence to finally work and I can now access my general settings. I have confirmed I have 1.0.2
