3GS unlock

I have one of the 'unlockable' 3GS's. I've been through everything everyone has suggested, and no luck.
Now I'm thinking of using a website for an IMEI unlock, but would appreciate your opinions on whether they are legit. I'm looking at icanunlock, and officialiphoneunlock.
Pls let me know if these are legit, and what your preference is

They're really expensive. I unlocked two of my AT&T iPhones (4 and 4s) at $45 each. Way better than paying $100+
You can check out *Global Unlock Codes -- Unlock your phone for $1.99!
They took about an hour to unlock each of my phones. Should work for your 3Gs as well.
