Is it possible to upgrade to ios5 without updating the baseband on an iphone 4?
I want to buy an iphone 4, and from what I can tell on the "how to check if you can unlock" sticky on this forum, the only one that can be unlocked without having to buy a gevey sim are those on baseband 1.59.00 and ios 4.0/4.0.1/4.0.2. I want to know if it's possible to upgrade to ios5 but still preserve baseband 1.59.00 in order to unlock. Basically is it possible to have an unlocked iphone 4 on ios5 without having to use gevey sim?

You would have to use snowbreeze or redsnow to make a custom firmware.
