Upgrading without losing my unlock

I have 3gs 4.1, jailbroken and unlocked. Im planning to upgrade it to its latest ios..im just curious if i will upgrde this via itunes, for sure this i lost the cydia apps but will i loss the unlock too? Need advise on what are the options..

If it's factory unlocked, then no. If it's unlocked using Ultrasn0w, then yes.
Check in cydia to see if you've got it installed.

If you use ultrasnow or a gevy you will need to make a custom firmware. Let us know and we can give ya a tutorial on how to do so.

Ok..this is not a factory unlock and dont have idea on what they used (technical people) to unlocked this phone..honestly i dont even have a full understanding yet with cydia..on what to find nd what has been installed or needed to be installed..thankful to recieved more advices and thank you guys for the great help..

Go download red snow 0.9.12b1, download the stock fw of 5.1.1 and create a NO_bb Ipsw CFW of 5.1.1.
Run red snow to put iphone into pwned dfu mode , run iTunes :shift + restore to CFW of 5.1.1.
Once restored. , jailbreak with red snow and install Ultrasnow again to unlock.

You should let us know your modem firmware from settings > general > about.

That is what I thought but no problem. After you have done what I posted and at 5.1.1 and before you jailbreak.
Run reds now 0.9.14b1 , click extra, select stock 5.1.1 Ipsw , click back , click jailbreak and select ipad Baseband downgrade to downgrade your bb to 04.13.xx to get your gps working again..

hopefully it will work for him, the downgrading part that is..

Ya, not all 3GS with ipad bb can be downgraded yet.

I had my first one that I couldn't downgrade this past weekend, but have done several others with no issues at all.
