    What baseband are you on?

i dont know. I got the iPHone from him today and when i connected to iTunes, it said i should restore. I am restoring 3.1.2 firmware.

Now i get the error 1015 in iTunes

Also when I get this message "the sim card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported", I can only do emergency calls. An idea how i can find out the baseband info?

To find the baseband go to: Settings > General > About and then scroll down to the part where it says your modem/ baseband.

Use tiny umbrella to exit recovery. At the connect to itunes screen use f0recast to find out what baseband you have.

If you want to unlock it you will either have to get the carrier it is locked to to unlock it or upgrade to the iPad baseband. There is no going back if you go the iPad baseband route and it will break your GPS.

Yep like Simon said. You'll have to get the carrier to unlock it or use iPad baseband

It doesnt matter if you live in a different country. They don't physically need the phone. What carrier is it locked to?

As far as I know, no. But I could be wrong

You can hacktivate to get past the emergency screen. Redsn0w will do it, maybe one of the other programs you've already downloaded can too.
