SAM - Sim card error

I've got an iPhone 4 untethered and jailbroken on IOS 5.1. I'm currently using a Gevey Pro to unlock my phone. I don't get push notifications for twitter, facebook. I sometimes get notifications for whatsapp but that's quite rare. I tried to install SAM and followed the instructions. Every time I connect it to iTunes I get a message telling me my Sim is invalid. I got this phone gifted to me from the UK and I didn't get a sim card with it.

Is there any walk around to this? I'd really like to get iMesasge and Facetime working to. Please help
