iPhone 4 4.3.5
I'm a little confused .. so I'm hoping I can get a little clarification on this. I'm currently on 4.3.5 and baseband 4.10.1. I know there is no unlock for my baseband but I'm currently on a tethered jailbreak. My question is .. Can I upgrade myself to IOS 5 with the same baseband? Or what are my options to get to IOS 5 if any?

Yes to preserve this baseband for gevey sim unlock , you want to restore to custom firmware of 5.0.1 either by snowbreeze or Redsnow

Thanks for your reply. Could you perhaps point me to the correct tutorial to do this? Appreciate it.

Thanks. So I download Snowbreeze 2.9.1 and that's it? Also, I would no longer use Redsnow for my tethered boot?

Open up snowbreeze and follow instructions. And when all said and done after ya jailbreak it should be untethered

Facing a slight problem. Got redsnow downloaded and followed the instructions online of creating a custom IPSW with no baseband change. Got onto ios 5.1 but as soon as I got IOS 5.1 through itunes it left a message saying my sim card is invalid. So now thats the same message that appears on the screen of my iphone. How do I get out of this?

No fix as such. Just a small walk around. While installing your custom IOS 5.1 and when it's done.. you go back to DFU mode and jailbreak. I had no idea that would give you an option to restore using iTunes or use as a new phone. Got that option and got my phone to work. Now need to figure out how to get iMessage and Factime to work.
