3GS 04.26.08 from iOS 4 to iOS 5.0.1

A friend has asked if upgrading is possible while keeping the unlock.

Since I saw his bb is 04.26.08, I assume it was possible. Reading the forums, there's people saying that you have to upgrade your bb to a higher one?

He has a 3GS. Not sure which version of his iOS 4 is.

Any suggestions?

Sorry I really need to update these stickies. That fix for ultrasn0w is no longer needed. Don't use it.

You can create a custom fw with pwnagetool if you have a Mac. You can also do the same with Redsn0w for both Mac and Windows. The idea is definitely to use a custom fw.
