Unlocking iPhone 3GS 5.0.1 problem

Hey dudes.

I have activated my iPhone 3gs but I can't for the life of me unlock it.

I have done what I have been told, use cyndia to download ultrasn0w etc.

before I did this it just came up with 'No service'

Now it is constantly 'Searching' for a network.


I need some serious help, I am in the UK btw.

Baseband is 05.16.05

So I found out I have to update to the iPad baseband but I'm not sure if my serial will brick my iphone or not.

Post the first 5 digits of your serial. If its manufactured after week 35 of 2011, you can't install iPad BB or else it will brick the phone.

If it is possible to ipad bb it, would I still be able to with 5.0.1 firmware?

every guide I've seen about it use a firmware which is ios 4

Thats a week 23 of year 2009 phone, you can install iPad BB.

Yes it works for 5.0.1, because they released ultrasn0w 1.2.5, an update that allows unlock to run on 5.0.1

I've done all of this etc but when I run redsn0w for it to do the baseband etc it just closes?

not sure what to do :S
