activate unknown carrier iphone 4 ?

Hello I have in my hands Iphone 4 with unknown fw, blocked to unknown carrier.

Only message i get from it is "insert valid sim card with no pin to activate..." or something like this...

I need to unlock it somehow, so do i need activate it first then jailbreak, then unlock yes?

How do i have to do it? I pressuming there is 4.x fw...

edit: i use ultrasnow and figure out there is fw 4.3.4 with 4.10.01-ICE_2_13 baseband... so only way to unlock it is gevey card? theres nothing else i can do with this phone?

Use any phonebook sim card, they are there in radioshak, mobile phone shops or any mobile tech moles , any phone book simcard will do the trick, no need for programmable sims, all those phonebook sims used to save ur contacts and transfer them have a universal ICCIDs preprogrammed so they all work.
