Gevey defective?

My sons i4 on 4.3.3 bb 4.10.01 jb with redsn0w using gevey ultra to unlock works great for about a week. Then he gets "invalid sim" or "no sim". We have to power off and on or sometimes do a hard reset to get it to work again. My i4 on 4.3.1 bb 4.10.01 jb the same and also using gevey ultra never has this problem. Any ideas? Is there any other way to unlock these without gevey? I've seen talk about people saying you can call your carrier and pay them a fee to unlock. Any truth to this?

probably the gavey sim is not working..!! try to use it in your iphone.. or you'rs in your son's..
and yes the carrier can unlock ur phone but it depends on the carrier,, i heard in canada they do it,,,.. not sure about others!!
