How to hacktivate ios 5.0.1?

Is there a way to hacktivate ios 5? I remembered selecting to activate the phone when using custom firmware but whenever the phone boots up I get the ios 5 wizard which at the end asks me to activate, I do not have a at&t sim card avalailable for the moment, and I have tried with both pwnagetool and redsnow, do I have a choice?

I used redsn0w already with custom firmware and selected to hacktivate on the custom firmware options but it still took me to the wizard when the iphone booted up.

You still have to answer the welcome wizard screen. If you have ipad bb, then Disable location services and disable find my iphone.

I did it with Sn0wbreeze but I had to do it twice coz first time it didn't Hacktivate (I don't know why !) Sn0wbreeze is just safer than redsn0w for preserving BB

You run redsn0w to jailbreak from the welcome screen. Once jailbroken, you are back to welcome screen, do the wizard and answer all those questions including keying in your apple id password and you will be taken to Homescreen.

iyeow's instructions, which he has kindly posted below worked just fine for me. id advise strongly you try them out as well if you havent thus far.

after ur phone is done restoring and you come to the slider that says configure - the wallpaper is a giant text which says iPhone - DONT slide to get into the wizard. run redsnow again and jailbreak - tick cydia.

it got done for me in about 3 minutes.

p.s - as you might notice - im rather pleased about this.

Becauze I am ****** up right now, with my iphone 4 bricked after updating to ios 5.0.1 and it asking me to find a valid sim.

use SAM from Cydia to activate your phone properly, which will also activate FaceTime and iMessage properly,

I frequently encounter this problem and let me tell you: Owning a activated At&t SIM card works miracles. A long time ago, I bought one for about 3 bucks on eBay, then I called At&t ( note that the two main things they ask for is the SIM card number and the IMEI) and then gave them a story about how I was shopping around for a new phone, and I would need an activated SIM card just to test out if it worked out on At&t. With that little white lie, they didn't really ask about the IMEI and just activated it with the SIM card number.

Anyway, you could buy one of those pre-paid cards and activate it that way if you want to go a different route. Or talking it to a licensed at&t sales person might have be another way, but I don't like dealing with sales people. Any way you slice it though, you get an activated SIM card and with that bad boy you can get past that pesky every time.

ERROR!
Error, no successful firmware download after 60000msl! Giving up....

it just stays like this until i reboot it manually where I'm greeted again by the same configuration window which we despise so much.

where you say "tick - cydia", do you mean to SELECT / DESELECT the second time around ????? i try with Install Cydia & Deactivate CHECKED and then just install Cydia in the second try when i'm on the configuration window.

Any help is appreciated.

Perfect! I was stuck on a friends phone, They didn't have the SIM card that came with their iPhone so I was trying to hacktivate. I saw this thread and read down to your post. Tried and it worked the first time!

Jailbroken with redsn0w
Then I reset the phone (or downgraded)
Asked me to put in SIM card
DID NOT CLICK NEXT ON THE SETUP WIZARD
Instead started redsn0w again
Put into DFU mode
Jailbroke again
NOW PHONE IS HACKTIVATED!! Awesome, thank you all!
