12-22-2011, 01:55 PM #1[Unlocking] Problem when restoring to costume firmware (4.2.1)
My friends iPhone 3g(or it maybe a 3gs , i am not sure) is "bricked" , it needs unlocking , cause when I insert the SIM it says:
"The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported"
So i tried the thread above, about unlocking.
Did so, using snowbreeze and when i tried to restore to the costume firmware it said:
"The Iphone could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible"
So what do I do?

The forecast programme says: (since it's stuck on the emergency screen)
Unlockable: Upgrade To Ipad BB
My baseband is: 05.15.04

Your baseband is already Non unlockable. Just Update to 5.0.1 , run redsn0w 0.9.9b9b and update to ipad bb for unlock and then jailbreak it to get a tethered jailbreak if you have New bootrom.
Downgrade to 4.xx if you have the blob and if you don't have any blob, you can downgrade to 4.1 either using cfw or stock 4.1

Since im not such a pro at this , I'd rather if we downgraded to 4.1 so it will be an untethered jailbreak.
Whats cfw? and how can i actually downgrade it?
run dfu mode and through itunes select the old ios?
Edit: Ohh i get it cfw = costume firmware.
So, should I downgrade it to 4.1 and then use redsn0w to...do what?
P.S I got no blobs

Just downgrade to stock 4.1, use Exit recovery to kick it out . Run redsn0w or limera1n to jailbreak. If you want unlock run redsn0w to update to ipad baseband but breaks your gps.

I just did it and got error 1015
12-22-2011, 03:05 PM #8
Close error box and close itunes. Run tiny umbrella, highlight your unknown device on left pane and hit Exit recovery
You can use redsn0w 0.9.9b9b to update to ipad bb and then to install cydia , Update cydia and install Ultrasn0w to unlock. Cydia server maybe down.

after redsn0w will i be able to get in the menu( browse inside the phone)?
12-22-2011, 03:22 PM #10
You mean root directory of your iphone ? Yes , only after you have jailbroken your iphone.
12-22-2011, 03:35 PM #11
i meant (since it's stuck in the emergency screen) , get in the phone in general
redsn0w stuck on the "fething ipad bb" and then shuts down??
i got 0.9.9b9d

Did you manually select your 4.1 ipsw first. You can do all this from emergency screen. If this redsn0w version doesn't work , then try redsn0w 0.9.6b6 from here but this redsn0w you need to download ipad 3.2.2 ipsw for it to browse to cos it won't fetch > redsn0w 0.9.6b6
Oh! forgot to mention, when you run redsn0w , set it to xp sp2 compatibility mode and do one at a time, not both install cydia and flashing of ipad bb.

Im ok now the iphone is running , jailbroken and "unlocked" , one BIG problem though...
I don't have wifi... no neighbours have wifi , the only place to find wi-fi is to go in town...
is there a no-wifi version to install ultrasnow? and what repo should i add in the sources?
12-22-2011, 04:27 PM #14
You don't have to add any repo, update cydia and search for ultrasn0w to unlock your ipad bb. If you have an official sim with data (borrow from a friend ) put it in , update cydia and install Ultrasn0w to unlock. ( remember to return the borrowed sim back to your friend..lol )

I've DONE IT!!!
But, it's still searching a carrier, and when i got to choose manualy a carrier it says :unable to load network list
I've installed ultrasno0w , rebooted twice, but it's still searching.
