Default I officially surrendered to AT&T and Apple.
After 2 months of having a locked iphone 4 on BB 04.11.08, I decided that AT&T and Apple have won and I no longer have the patience to sit around and wait for a potential software unlock with no ETA. My contract with T-Mobile was over 6 months ago so I left them today and joined AT&T (well technically, their prepaid GoPhone). I got home and inserted my new $25 GoPhone micro-sim into my iphone 4 and it loaded right up! If I would've known that it was all it took to unlock my iphone, I would've done this 2 months ago.

Has anybody else given up too?

Sometimes I am at that point and then I realize that if I go with ATT, I have to deal
with its terrible service and I regained my composure...

I sold my iPhone 4 locked to AT&T on Craigslist for $350. Then, I bought a factory unlocked 4s from Apple store online for $649 and stay with T-mobile. Now with a factory unlocked iPhone I can switch to any carrier that I want. Also, in the long run the money that I save staying with T-mobile, I can buy 2 more factory unlocked phones...
