    Default iphone 3gs unlocking probs

Bit of a long story so sit down lol

My iPhone 3gs originally was on O2 (UK) and i took it to a company to unlock, not sure how they did it (and they won't touch it now!) but it worked fine with vodafone (uk) who I'm with.

My son persuaded me to upgrade via iTunes which i did and it was then on 5.01 and baseband 6.15, I got the emergency call only situation, anyway i had managed to save the version 4.3.5 so used redsnow to jailbreak and got 4.3.5 back on by using the manual restore via iTunes.

I am stuck with No service so i stuck back in the O2 sim and still the same, sent for a new O2 sim and still the same, whatever sim i use its the same. I am presuming that it's the baseband upgrade thats caused the issue.

I can get all the apps to work and wireless works fine, its just the phone part that won't work, my son reckons that if i wait long enough that apple will upgrade or fix the baseband and iOS via iTunes.

Can't find a fix on the net tried all sorts but nothing - is my son right that apple will fix if i wait via iTunes?

I don't often use the phone so in no rush if its worth waiting.

thanks for your quick reply, not sure if its the older one its a 16g black, with the iPhone printed on the back also printed on the back is the apple logo and 16g plus text which says designed by apple etc and a line of 7 characters. In the settings/about/general the model number is MC131B - if its the older one do i download an older baseband if so how do i use redsnow to downgrade the baseband?
I haven't got ultraslow installed (i can't see it in the apps - also when i selected on redsnow and clicked install cydia I can't see that in apps either)

thanks, so if its an old model i can download an older baseband and flash with Redsnow then, which baseband do you suggest?
I would like to set a baseband that will allow me to unlock so i can use another sim.
At the moment I'm stuck with "no service" which i think maybe a result of upgrading via iTunes initially to 5.01 and even though I have downgraded to 4.35 the baseband remains at 6.15, am in the process of downloading 4.3.3 which i think is the last version that is untetherable.

Thanks it did, looks like i can't downgrade the baseband as I'm already on 06.15.00!!

"There is no way to come back down from 06.15, and there’s no hiding the baseband version from Apple"

downgrading of baseband not required.. as there is a unlock avaliable from unltrasn0w for this baseband
