Default Need help activating iPhone 3GS iOS 5.0.1
    Hi,

Last week my brother accidentally upgraded my unlocked iPhone to iOS 5.0.1 through iTunes. Since then my iPhone is stuck at the welcome screen( asking about language, country etc.). I tried to bypass the activation by

    1. jailbreaking my iPhone using redsn0w_win_0.9.9b8 with iOS 5.0, iOS 5.0.1 and iOS 4.3.5
    Using this tutorial
    Jailbreak 5.0.1 iPhone 4,3Gs,iPod Touch 4,3 & iPad With Redsn0w

It worked once and I was able to complete jailbreaking process but after rebooting, instead of getting a home screen I was still stuck at iPhone configure screen.
but I get this error for all the firmwares.
    "Mounting rootfs as read-only, ERROR!
Error, no successful firmware download after 60000 ms!! Giving up…"

    2. I also tried using sn0wbreeze 2.8b8 and iOS 5.0 to restore using iTunes but i get an error 3194 and I can't seem to restore it.

I'm completely stumped and I have no idea how to proceed.
I'm going insane trying to resolve this issue since over a week now.
My iPhone can only be used as a paper weight since last week.
Please, can anyone help me with this issue??? Any suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks.

About my iPhone, its 3GS previously unlocked. I dont remember its firmware though.

You should be able to hactivate and jailbreak with Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 or you can downgrade to 4.1, kick out error 1015 , hactivate and jailbreak with Redsn0w 0.9.6b6

As for the other suggestion, as soon as I try to restore it to 4.1 through iTunes i get an error 3194....

If you are using 64 bits windows 7, set redsn0w in xp sp2 compatibility mode and if your systen has fast processor, set affinity to one.

It wont connect to the itunes no matter what. What do I do?

After putting it in dfu mode, It doesn't do anything. It doesn't restore it at all. I have itunes installed on my pc. I have the iphone usb plugged into the pc. I have tried this with itunes turned on or not. Itunes never recognizes that there is an iphone connected to usb. How do I make it recognize? I even hold the power and home button long enough to the point that iphone has on screen the itunes picture of a usb cord and the text itunes, telling me to plug it in to pc. But itunes never recognizes. What do I do?
