No service, phone doesn't see SIM card

I inherited 3Gs about two years old with 5.01 on BB 16.05.00 and it was O2 factory unlocked. After I jail beaked it with latest "redsn0w" it was bricked and after many hours running trough all possible options and many acrobatics and repeated jailbreaks I was able to open it. For a long time one of the errors was "no sim card" which was inside and used before, but after last jailbreak I end up with 'NO SERVICE" and no recognition of SIM card. What I mean with that is, doesn't matter if card is in or out no more message "no more sim card installed" and in System, "no sim card". I used quite a few cards that are working and no difference. Does anybody have any idea how to fix this? Is it possible that radio is fried as some suggest because of BB16.05 repeated booting? Thanks for any help.

You mentioned your iphone is factory unlocked. So why do you need bb 6.15 to unlock??
Just update to 5.0.1 and use any sim to activate and finnaly unlock.
If u still face the same error you have broken simcard slot.
Send it to apple to fix it.

Downgrade to 4.1, you cannot get service at 5.0.1

Unfortunately that factory unlock came too late after I did it with ultrasn0w, I was inpatient. It was with FW 5.0 and I upgraded to 5.01. I am dealing with consequences. I simply don't have service any more. SIM card simply doesn't exist for my phone. No signal, no sim recognized being in or out and no pop up warning "no sim card installed". I don't know if that has to do with 5.01 FW not being compatible with JB on BB 6.15 and ultrasn0w.

Yes it was possible. I installed 4.1 w/o JB just to see if it will get signal and it did not. I JB it to see if there is any difference, still nothing and then I went back to 5.0 with JB and the same. Finally upgraded to 5.01, same. One thing I need to mention, SIM card was never seen by the system. After booting iTunes would say "not installed" but phone itself never came with warning "no sim card installed" whenever I would pull it out to check and it didn't matter which one I used. They all worked in my 3G. Is it possible that radio is fried? If it is, is it used by wi-fi because wi-fi was working all the time.
