Problem Unlocking my Iphone 4g OS 5...
Hey Guys, I dont want to be sounding like a noob but im desperate
. Heres my story...I just bought an Iphone from my friend because his contract was finished and its working and all. I saw the version and its OS 5 so i jailbreaked it with no problem and I did the tutorial on how to unlock it, and I have not seen any problems unlocking it...After I cut my sim into a smaller portion i have inserted it into the iphone, but it still reads no service or sim failure
. I reinserted it numerous times but its still the same
. Please help me

Im not sure what base band is, but my modem firmware is 04.11.08... I was thinking if downgrading could help?

And i unlocked it by Using cydia and the Ultrasn0w 1.2.4

Ultrasn0w only works on 1.59.00 modem firmware/baseband for an iPhone 4. Anything below 4.11.08 (excluding 1.59.00) can be unlocked with the Gevey Ultra SIM. You have neither, so you can't unlock that phone. If it's absolutely vital for you to unlock, because you don't use an official carrier and it isn't an option to do so, sell the phone and buy another with any baseband lower than 4.11.08.

You can downgrade your firmware if you have the blob but the baseband will not change, answer is still no unlock.
If you want to get another iphone, i suggest get a factory unlocked which will save you all the trouble of being locked out. Hope this make sense.

Actually, things just got interesting. Unlock without jailbreak. Any baseband in ios 5.

I think your only hope at this point is to try the new unlock method I mentioned above using an AT&T sim and a Tmobile sim.

If you unlock using that method, you can jailbreak after. I wouldn't jailbreak before because the unlock process reboots your phone and rebooting is bad. I have not tried this unlock but I would like to try it, I just don't have an AT&T sim card.Last edited by tombombman; 11-18-2011 at 01:50 PM.

The above method will only unlock your phone for a few seconds/minutes at the most.
Your only hope is that the people working on this sort of thing will come out with an unlock/Jailbreak for the newer basebands. I just don’t see that happening soon. Sell it and buy one with the 01.59 Base Band or buy a factory unlocked one.Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!
