    Default Emergency situation...need solution fast!

My friend's dad is going to china in 2 DAYS, and I've done multiple jailbreaks for him and his family in the past...

He wants me to restore his iPhone 4 to iOS 5 and then jailbreak it, knowing it'll be tethered (or semi-tethered).

So I restore it with the official Apple update button thing and no shift-click kind of stuff....

I have never owned an iPhone and my parents take care of my current phone so I don't know anything about SIM cards or whatever...

I think that since I updated it using Apple's formal no-hacks method, I updated his baseband...

Before I restored it, it worked fine and it said No SIM in the upper left hand corner.

Now, after I restored it, it's asking me to activate the iPhone, except there's no SIM card inside!

It puzzles me how before, it worked, yet it did not have a SIM card....

I need to re-jailbreak it fast, but before I do that, here is my main concern:::

HOW DO I MAKE IT WORK PROPERLY, SPRINGBOARD AND EVERYTHING, WITHOUT A SIM CARD????

Thank you very much, because this has to be resolved within the next 48 hours, or else he'll be going to China with a not working iPhone.

Get an official AT&T sim card and activate thru that. Once done download ultrasn0w in cydia. What's the baseband now?
