I am planning on switching to tmoible's new 49.99x2 for 2 lines plan and I was going to use a couple of unlocked iphones. I currently have an iphone 3gs that has 4.2.1 and bb 05.15.04 so I am under the impression I can't use that phone unless i upgrade to the ipad bb and kill gps. So I am thinking instead of doing that just getting a couple of iphone 3g from ebay. Do all iphone 3g phones jailbreak and unlock? I am afraid I am going to order some random iphone 3g on ebay and then not be able to unlock it.
What is the best iphone device to buy to use with tmobile?
Also does visual voicemail work on tmoible?
You need to check for the device's baseband before buying. If it is 5.13.04 or lower, it's fine for unlocking. Even better, if the seller happens to know what bootloader it is, find that out. The bootloader 5.8 (or some state it as 5.08) allows the iPhone 3G to downgrade the baseband when jailbroken, even if it is upgraded. All iPhone 3G can be jailbroken no problem though.
Are you wanting to buy as 3G or 3GS? I'm on the plan you mentioned. I use a cydia youmail tweak for vm that works great.....not sure if TMO visual works or not
