Default Restore an unlocked / jailbroken 3gs?

My current 3gs is unlocked and jailbroken, but I bought a 4s and am going to get rid of this. I want to wipe out all my data on the phone but preserve the unlock and jailbreak. How can I do this?

    Thanks!

Restore to custom firmware to preserve your baseband.

How do you know if the restore went through? I restored it to the sn0wbreeze3GS-4.0.ipsw firmware but I got an error message saying Itunes could not restore. My 3gs is now stuck in the itunes screen. Is it safe to say my phone has been wiped of all data?

Are you trying to wipe out data ? You should restore to custom firmware of 4.1
