Default 3GS 5.13.04 jailbreak and unlock question
I'm on tmobile and used Sn0wbreeze on 4.3.3. Considering going to IOS 5. I believe i have old bootrom but I will triple check. I had no idea that bootrom and baseband were different until today. Is it the same process I used last time... Sn0wbreeze and then UltrasnOw to unlock? I heard about problems with gamecenter. Is there something else I
    need to do. Thanks.

Yep, same process. I don't remember hearing anything about issues with gamecenter, sorry I can't answer that question.

Jailbreak iOS 5 On Windows Using Sn0wbreeze 2.8b8 | Redmond Pie

Here's a guide in case you forgot how to. Remember, iOS 5 jailbreaks are all tethered. You may install from Cydia the BigBoss Semi-Tether tweak to make it a semi-tethered jb if that is something you'd be interested in.

Thanks. One more thing. I'm on 5.13.04 and has assumed I was on old bootrom. I found out today that baseband and bootrom are different. I downloaded f0recast to check and for bootloader it says 6.4_M3S2. I've read that 359.3 is the old one. So is the 6.4 the 359.3.... I don't quite understand.

f0recast won't tell you your bootrom. Download idetector to find that out.

Yeah to get out of DFU, when youre finished, just hold home and power for 10 seconds, release, then power on as normal.

Hey I am having issues detecting baseband. Idetector does not work. I keep getting a message that it can't detect my device. I then tried to look at device manager and it does not give me the info. My phoned is definitely in dfu mode. I did notice that when i connect to itunes, it needs to check for a carrier update each time which I allow. I have itunes 10.2.2.14

Any other ideas about how to check? I have 2 3GS' and this happens on both phones. Thanks.

I used USB view and I was able to get bootrom. If you are on windows sp3, you might need it.

iTunes shouldnt be offering you a carrier update if you are in DFU.

FYI. I was in dfu mode. For some reason, I get that message all the time. Thanks to both of you for the help. My old bootrom 3GS is now jb and unlocked on IOS 5.
