help with unlocking please and jailbreaking please
hello. i really need help unlocking my iphone 3GS. i have a tmobile sim card and therefore cannot get past the itunes screen on my iphone.
so what i did was try jailbreaking it with like 60 different programs before i got to sn0wbreeze, and at the last step when i built my IPSW file, itunes was not compatible with it.
So what i'm asking is, how do i fix this dreaded error? how can i make a compatible custom IPSW to hactivate and jailbreak my iphone?
i have an IPhone 3GS, 4.2.1. Yes i'm using the correct version of sn0wbreeze that matches my iphone.
sorry if i'm forgetting anything, it's very late and my eyes are half open. PLEASE help, thank you!

What's the baseband. I have a feeling it needs to be upgraded but just to be sure, check the bb and tell me what it is.

Ok then yeah the baseband needs to be upgraded for you to unlock. Be aware that a baseband upgrade to 6.15.00 can break or cause your GPS to malfunction.
If you're ok with that, I can find the appropriate guide for you to follow to get your baseband upgraded.

How to Update & Jailbreak iPhone 3GS / 3G Baseband to 06.15.00 with Redsn0w 0.9.6b5 for iOS 4.2.1 Unlock | Redmond Pie
Here you go. Read the disclaimers on this guide though, it points out other stipulations with using the iPad baseband for unlocking. So if you feel you can deal with it, then proceed to follow the guide.
If you run into something unexpected, feel free to let me know and I'll see what I can do to help you finish the job

Did you try to install both Cydia and the iPad bb together.

Run twice , do it one at a time. Set redsnow in xp sp2 compatible mode
You should be using redsnow 0.9.6 b8 or higher.

gah i'm so lost..
i used redsn0w 0.96rc16 because i couldn't find redsn0w 0.9.6b8
followed the guide, used "iPhone2,1_4.2.1_8C148a_Restore" for the firmware, and set my device into DFU mode. i still get the shitty "waiting for reboot" message.
iphone 3gs, 4.2.1
5.15.04
EDIT: it still didn't work with 0.96rc8..waiting for rebootLast edited by Yugoslavia; 10-29-2011 at 12:30 AM.

If your bb is 05.14.xx or higher, there is no need to use pwnage tools to preserve unless you already have ipad bb which you must restore to custom firmware of 4.2.1 or higher.
Use redsn0w which i have given you the link to jailbreak / update ipad bb if you have already restored to to stock firmware.
Upon restoring to custom firmware , you are already jailbroken.

i'm going to assume stock firmware means default apple firmware, then yes i'm at it right now. but i have no idea how to jailbreak it simply because of the waiting for reboot thing. i've tried one at a time, but no luck.
if you can't help me and there's nothing else i can do, thanks anyway

Is your iphone functional or stuck in recovery mode. What is your objective ?
If you want to restore to 4.2.1 , you need 4.2.1 shsh blob and do you have it ?

Have you tried hactivating and jailbreak with Redsn0w b8 from Emergency Screen.
When you are asked to browse too, you choose the stock firmware that correspond to the one that you have on your iphone.
