3GS on ios5 not unlocked
Please help if possible.
3GS preserved baseband (6.15.00) with snowbreeze, jb with resdn0w and installed ultrasn0w with cydia 1.2.4. Looking at cydia at the bottom is says 1.1.2. Does this matter at all for unlocking the phone? Stationed in Guam with no U.S. carriers and would like to have my phone working again. Unistalled and reinstalled ultrasn0w only to still "no servive".
Thanks,
Gene

Run redsn0w again choose deactivate , take sim out and reinsert it back.

Open redsn0w 0.9.9b7 to extras and do not see deactivate. Please excuse my ignorance but should I be using a different version of redsn0w?

You didn't restore to a regular 5.0 firmware at any point did you?

Simon, no. I had snowbreeze create the custom ipsw for iso 5.

Have you confirmed the sim you are using works in another phone?
Also try turning off 3G in settings/general/network to see if you can get edge service.

If you didn't hactivate it I assume you have a sim from the carrier it is locked to in order to activate it after the restore?

Wait so if you make a cfw with sn0wbreeze, your gonna need to jailbreak it with redsn0w? I already have cydia installed when the restore to my cfw was made without jail breaking with redsn0w. But when I use ifunbox, it tells me to jail break it.

Try using this redsn0w 0.9.6 b6 , browse to stock 4.1 fimware and choose deactivate iphone.
Do this with your Ultrasn0w installed.

That will remove his hactivation Yeow but it is probably safer to do it with SAM so that he can activate properly. No telling what a older version of redsnow will do to a iPhone on 5.0.

One probably installs afc access while the other doesn't. You could just as easily go into cydia and install afc2add and then ifunbox will see the root file system after a reboot.
Not by itself. You would still need SAM to activate it with iTunes. And SAM has the deactivation built into it so no need for redsnow to deactivate.
