Can Any IPhone 4 Be Unlocked?

Hello... I was wondering if any iPhone 4 can be unlocked.
I remember when the iPhone 4 first came out only 4.2.1 and 01.59.00 could be unlocked.

Anyone know if there have been ways to unlock any version and any firmware

BB 01.59.00 can be unlocked with Ultrasn0w

BB 02.10/03.10/04/10 can only be unlocked with Gevey Sims

Latest iOS 5 BB 4.11.08 can not be unlocked yet

I'm familiar with ultrasn0w but what is gevey sims? Is it just something I download through cydia?
Does it give me all of the functions of the iPhone ( or at least same as ultrasn0w)

Gevey SIMs are small hardware sims that you put under the carrier's sim :

It works great, specially the latest Ultra that work automatically after reboots (with the help of a small Cydia package)

GEVEY Ultra unlock iPhone 4 iOS 4.0, 4.1, 4.2.1, 4.3.1, 4.3, 4.3.2, 4.3.3 baseband 1.59, 2.10, 3.10.1, 4.10.1

r9800 is correct. note that unlocking through gevey only provides Edge access on other networks, as does Ultrasn0w.

What do you mean by Edge "only" ? I get 3G just fine

Really? What country? Here in NY w/American ATT iPhone, I've only gotten Edge access on non ATT networks.

My iPhone is locked to Swisscom Switzerland and I live in Egypt and use Gevey Ultra with Etisalat Egypt and I have another prepaid Vodafone Egypt sim which also runs fine on 3G

I think it depends on coverage coz in some areas it switches to Edge

yah in America man if you unlock w/Gevey you only get EDGE on other networks

In the US all other GSM carriers besides AT&T (and those associated w/ AT&T) cannot get 3G. TMobile USA for example can only get EDGE with an iPhone due to the different frequencies being utilized.

In other countries this doesn't always apply.

On applenberry.com saying f your iPhone 4 has custom firmware installed, the GEVEY Sim adapter will not work. You must restore your iPhone 4 to the original firmware to unlock your iPhone 4. How can i check if my firmware is original? I have iphone 4 with firmware 4.4.3 and BB 4.10.01. Tried to unlock with Gevey sim earlier but couldn't . Does anyone have custom firmware and still able to unlock? Thanks

I am using a custom 4.3.3 FW because I don't have the original carrier's sim and needed hacktivation and Gevey Ultra works just fine (I have the genuine one)

Gevey Ultra works in 2 modes, Automatic and Manual. Automatic mode needs Jailbreaking

Iphone 4 :
Baseband 1.59.00 can be unlocked with Ultrasn0w up to IOS 5.0.
Baseband of 02.10, 03.10, 04.10 regardless of any IOS 4.xx and 5.xx can be unlocked by Gevey Sim.
If your baseband is 04.11 which is the baseband of IOS 5.0 and 5.0.1 , nothing can unlock it.
