hey guys i know this problem probably comes up alot and i could probably search the forums however when i try the screen goes white and the search engine doesnt work?! anyways i received an iphone 3gs today and attemped to jailbreak it. it had version 4.3.5 on it and i didnt read redsnow when it said use your current OS... stupid me! i now know i should have used tiny umbrella to downgrade to 4.3.3 and then jailbroke.. what happened was i tried to install 4.3.3 when 4.3.5 was installed and now my phone doesnt work!! when i try to restore with itunes i get error 3694. my phone is stuck on the restore screen and i cant figure out at all how to fix it! if anyone can help me or at least point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it!
Have you tried putting your phone in DFU mode or "pwned DFU" mode using redsn0w? These "deep" recovery modes may allow you to restore.
Also, if that doesn't work, try using someone else's comp to Restore. I know my iTunes has gotten a bit wonky from tinkering and I used to go to the Apple Store to do restores, which worked just fine.
i dont know what BB! i have done this before with other iphones but always used the right firmware that matched the one that was on the phone.. when i recieved the phone it had the latest 4.3.5 and i accidentally used 4.3.3 with redsn0w.. i should have downgraded before i jailbroke and now its stuck on restore screen and i get 3694 when i plug up to itunes.. i put it in dfu mode when i try to install the firmware and now im stuck! the computer recognized it and made the deedoo sound when i plugged it in.. and itunes recognized it as an iphone in recovery mode. im installing the latest updates for my itunes right now as im typing i hope it helps but i doubt it for some reason... what do you mean deep recovery mode? and will the apple store charge me to get it back up?
First of all, they probably will restore it for free (as long as you didn't use the iPad baseband).
But once you go into DFU mode there is an option in redsn0w to go into "pwned DFU" or deep recovery mode, the sort of mode that allows for custom restores. This might be a good option for you to try. Also, like I said, just plugging it into someone else's computer and trying there (that's what I did at the Apple Store, I didn't go to the genius bar or anything).
ok update... i updated my itunes and it frickin worked!! thanks dude! now i gotta figure out how to down grade to 4.3.3... then jailbreak correct? id like to use redsn0w because i already have it... is the new redsn0w better? how would you recommend i go about doing this?
